So, unfortunately I was not present last week because I was sick for the whole week. When I came back for the group meeting it turned out the whole project was changed. I was suppose to receive emails regarding any changes but I never got them. So all my work done before was made redundant.
The group changed the whole theme to Alice in Wonderland, and they did it well. The layout of the puzzle was complex but not too challenging, using the cards as enemies was neat and the placement of the staffs will definitely make for a challenge. The functionality of the 'bird' was new and interesting to say the least.
Because I couldn't really contribute much other than progress, I was left with reading a script in regards to the new 'Bird' visual design. I can't complain, we did win best bird and received a prize for it. Otherwise, I tried to help out as much as possible with the Launcher. We didn't get ours to shoot the furthest but I thought it was still very well made and with a few adjustments would work really well.
I felt I was really lacking in the Teamwork department. Not just cause I was sick, I should have taken more initiative to keep in contact with everyone. The moment communication fails then the whole project falls apart.
The roles we received didn't have much conflict to it, I think most of us just wanted to pick up what the other didn't want. I didn't want to say but I really wanted to work on the birds, I had to many ideas. Which made it all the more upsetting when the changes were made and I couldn't show off my final designs.
I wish I hadn't missed that group meeting. Just that one and everything changed.

A bunch of Angry Birds Part 2
14/3/14
For homework I had to design 3 more birds for our Angry Birds project. I've been stuck for powers so I've mostly been drawing a variety of different birds then going from there.
Name: The Ghost/Ninja Bird
Ability: Once launched the player can tap the bird to make it temporarily transparent and thus can move through objects for one second.
Name: Wild Bird
Ability: It can take for form and abilities of any Angry Bird and acts as a wild card if in a bind. This bird however is only accessible either after the player has competed a level or finished the game.

Name: Spiky Bird
Ability: When it hits on object it can stick to it and take to object with it if there is enough momentum and the object isn't too big. Once flung it will curl up into a ball of spikes.

A bunch of Angry Birds Part 1
6/3/14
For classes IFB103 I need to keep a weekly record/portfolio of what we cover and of personal development. This first assessment is about Angry Birds.
I worked on the 'Hulk-Out' Bird. Its job was when tapped it would transform into a bird twice its size which meant better velocity when flung but maximum damage when it hit an object or pig. I named it Fluffles.
We based the design off of the Northern White-faced Owl (Ptilopsis leucotis) aka 'The Transformer Owl'.
Spring Piggy is constantly moving, jumping back and forth on its platform. If it spots a bird it will try to jump out of the way. The player must destroy the platform in order to destroy the pig.
The second pig is the 'Unicorn/Rainbow Pig'. This pig will transform your last bird into a different species. What species it turns into is completely at random so the player should get rid of this pig quickly before there is no more birds.

The class was split into 5 teams of about 6 people. The teams job is to create new Birds, new Pigs and a new puzzle for them to overcome. I chose to work with making the birds. We chose two main functions, a Sliding Bird and 'Hulk-out' Bird. We tried to base the designs off of actual bird species instead of trying to create some make believe super pigeon.
My classmate (Sorry, I'm terrible with names!) worked on the Sliding Bird. We though a penguin would be most suited and since the colours blue and black were already taken we chose purple and white instead.

We designed two different forms. The 'Take Off' or 'Evil' form and the 'Hulk Out' form. The Launch form is based off it's slim line, sinister pose and is for greater distance. On the downside it does very little damage.
When activated, Fluffles will explode in a flurry of pink feathers to reveal the red Hulked Out form and can do massive damage. However, its weight becomes an issue and it will fall faster.
For homework I need to design 3 more birds but that's for part 2.
Another two people worked on designing the pigs. They made a 'Spring Pig' and a 'Unicorn Pig'

The last two people in the group worked on the puzzle. Their job involved building an actual structure out of cups, ice cream sticks, rubber bands and a bunch of other bits and pieces and the birds and pigs would be represented with ping pong balls. Today they made the sling for the birds and it looks fantastic.

Overall, this team is awesome and very productive. I hope the rest of this task will go along swimmingly.
